Your Privacy in Plain English
We care about your privacy as much as we care about a well-brewed cup of coffee — a lot! ☕
Here’s the short version of how things work around here:
- We don’t track you with creepy cookies. Our analytics (Matomo and Jetpack) are set up in privacy-friendly mode, so they only tell us general things like “someone visited this page” or “people use mobile more than desktop.” No personal details, no stalking.
- If you sign up for our newsletter, we only use your name and email to send you the updates you asked for. We use Mailchimp to manage the list, and you can unsubscribe any time.
- We don’t sell or share your information. Ever. We’d rather give away the last slice of cake.
- You’re in control. Want to see what info we have about you, fix it, or delete it? Just ask — we’ll sort it out quickly.
That’s it!
If you want the full legal details (because GDPR and friends require them), you’ll find them below.
1. Analytics and Tracking
We use privacy-focused analytics services to understand how visitors use our website and to improve our content. These analytics tools do not set tracking cookies and do not store personally identifiable information without consent.
Matomo Analytics (Self-Hosted)
We operate Matomo Analytics on our own web server. Matomo is configured in cookieless mode, meaning no tracking cookies are placed on your device. The information collected is anonymised and includes:
- Pages visited and the time spent on each page
- The type of device and browser used
- An approximate geographical location (country or region) derived from an anonymised IP address
All Matomo data is stored on our own hosting server and is not shared with third parties. No visitor profiling is conducted.
Jetpack Site Stats
We also use Jetpack Site Stats, provided by Automattic Inc., to gather basic visitor counts. Jetpack records page views using a server-side image request, without setting analytics cookies.
The data collected is aggregated and does not personally identify you. This data may be processed by Automattic’s servers, which are located in the United States and other regions, in accordance with Automattic’s Privacy Policy.
2. Email Newsletter (Mailchimp)
If you choose to sign up for our email newsletter, we will collect and process the personal information you provide, which typically includes:
- Your email address
- Your name (if you choose to provide it)
This data is collected via sign-up forms on our website and is stored and processed by Mailchimp, a service provided by The Rocket Science Group LLC, based in the United States.
We use this information solely for the purpose of sending you our email newsletters and related updates. We do not sell or share your information with other organisations for marketing purposes.
You can unsubscribe from our mailing list at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link included in every email we send, or by contacting us directly.
For more details on how Mailchimp handles your data, please see the Mailchimp Privacy Policy.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the legal bases we rely on for processing your personal data are:
- Legitimate interests – for anonymised, cookieless analytics that help us improve our website.
- Consent – for collecting and processing your personal information when you sign up for our newsletter.
4. Your Data Protection Rights
Under GDPR, you have the right to:
- Request access to the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of any inaccurate information.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Withdraw consent at any time (for example, by unsubscribing from the newsletter).
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details below.
5. Contact
